Founded in 1959
Pete’s Pride was founded in 1959 by Al Pete in Muncie, IN. John Hartmeyer became active in the company in the 1960’s and purchased the company from Al in 1970. The business continued to grow and a second facility in Muncie was added to produce breaded vegetables a few years later. In 2009, Monogram Comfort Foods purchased Al Pete’s Meats and quickly expanded the business further. The East Willard Street location in Muncie, IN was producing thousands of pounds of pork fritters and corn dogs daily.
Purchased by Steidinger Foods in 2013
In June 2013, Steidinger Foods purchased Pete’s Pride. In order to preserve the quality and flavor loyal customers had grown to love, Pete’s Pride recipes and trade secrets would transfer to the new owners. One month later, Pete’s Pride fritters were back in production at Steidinger Food’s primary location in Fairbury, IL.
